Job summary

Hexion seeks a senior EHS leader to own and administer the global Process Safety Management system across the manufacturing network. You will drive governance, risk reduction, and cross-functional collaboration with Reliability, Operations, and Engineering to advance safety and reliability initiatives.

You will manage budgets, prioritize PSM-capital investments, and push data-driven maturity of programs while guiding training and succession planning for safety leaders worldwide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or environmental/occupational safety required.
  • 10–15 years of progressive EHS, process safety or reliability leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of Process Safety Management and OSHA standards.
  • Experience leading multi-site compliance programs.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Own and administer Hexion's global Process Safety Management system across the manufacturing network.
  • Ensure consistent implementation, governance, and risk reduction across operations.
  • Administer, train, and oversee PSM elements including MOC, PHA/HAZOP, OPS procedures, incident investigation, audits, and more.
  • Collaborate with Reliability on Mechanical Integrity programs and data alignment.
  • Develop and manage annual global PSM operating and capital budget; forecast spending and prioritize investments.
  • Establish risk-based prioritization for PSM-related capital projects and develop business cases.
  • Escalate significant unfunded process safety risks to executive leadership; drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Own and administer Hexion's global Process Safety Management system across the manufacturing network
Ensure consistent implementation, compliance, governance, and risk reduction across operations
Administer, train, and oversee PSM elements including Management of Change, PHA and HAZOP, Operating Procedures, Incident Investigation, Compliance Audits, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Hot Work, Contractors, Employee Participation, Training, Emergency Planning and Response, and Trade Secrets
Collaborate with Reliability on Mechanical Integrity programs and data alignment
Use data analytics, leading indicators, audits, incident learning, and PSM maturity data to identify systemic risks and implement mitigation strategies
Maintain global metrics, standards, governance frameworks, and standardized reporting processes
Partner with senior, regional, Engineering, Reliability, Operations, and EHS leadership to integrate safety and performance initiatives
Develop and manage the annual global PSM operating and capital budget
Forecast spending, manage budget performance, and prioritize investments based on risk reduction value
Establish risk-based prioritization for PSM-related capital projects
Develop business cases, secure funding, and advocate for risk-reduction improvements
Escalate significant unfunded process safety risks to executive leadership
Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to program managers and site partners
Promote inclusion, empowerment, psychological safety, proactive risk identification, and continuous improvement
Support succession planning and professional development of emerging safety and reliability leaders

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Environmental or Occupational Safety
  • Ten to fifteen years of progressive EHS, process safety, reliability, or operations leadership experience in a manufacturing or process industry
  • Deep working knowledge of Process Safety Management and its core elements
  • Strong understanding of OSHA Process Safety Management standards
  • Practical experience managing multi-site compliance programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive accountability, and achieve measurable results through collaboration
  • Ability to influence and align leaders across functions and geographies without direct reporting authority
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to manufacturing sites as required
  • Advanced degree in engineering, safety, or a related technical discipline (preferred)
  • Professional certification such as CSP, CCPS, or CMRP (preferred)
  • Experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or materials industries (preferred)
  • Experience leading or facilitating Process Hazard Analysis and HAZOP reviews and closing resulting recommendations (preferred)
  • Experience developing global standards, governance frameworks, and leading indicator programs (preferred)
  • Experience building capital business cases and securing funding for risk reduction projects (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Integrity programs and their integration with process safety systems (preferred)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background investigation required for employment
  • Authorization for the Company to conduct additional periodic background checks as required by CFATS or applicable regulations
