Job summary

USKO Expedite Inc. seeks a Safety Manager to oversee the Safety Department and ensure FMCSA, DOT, and state compliance across drivers and operations. Youll manage DQ files, HOS/ELD, inspections, and safety performance, while coordinating with operations, insurance, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee FMCSA, DOT, and state regulatory compliance.
  • Manage Driver Qualification (DQ) files, including licenses, medical certificates, MVRs, reviews, and documentation.
  • Manage driver hiring, screening, onboarding, orientation, and safety training.
  • Monitor Hours of Service (HOS), ELD compliance, and driver logs.
  • Review roadside inspections, violations, CSA scores, and safety performance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and claims and determine corrective actions.
  • Manage accident and insurance claims, including documentation and communication with adjusters and drivers.
  • Maintain driver information in insurance databases (PD and Occupational Accident).
  • Coordinate with drivers on insurance coverage, claims, safety, and compliance.
  • Ensure owner-operator agreements and insurance forms are completed.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance compliance (preventive schedules, inspections, records).
  • Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion).
  • Conduct safety meetings, driver coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Monitor fleet cameras, telematics, and safety technology.
  • Address driver concerns and apply corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify safety trends and implement preventive measures.
  • Coordinate with operations, dispatch, insurance, maintenance, and management.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Safety Manager to oversee our Safety Department and ensure our drivers, vehicles, and operations remain compliant with FMCSA, DOT, and state transportation regulations. The Safety Manager will be responsible for driver compliance, safety performance, Driver Qualification files, Hours of Service, accident and claims management, insurance documentation, vehicle compliance, and safety training. This position works closely with drivers, operations, dispatch, insurance providers, and maintenance vendors to maintain a safe and compliant operation. Our Safety Department works closely with drivers and other departments to promote a safe, professional, and compliant work environment. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of safety, communicates effectively, and can confidently manage the responsibilities of a growing transportation operation.

Responsibilities
  • FMCSA, DOT, and state regulatory compliance

  • Manage accident and insurance claims, including opening claims, maintaining documentation, and communicating with adjusters and drivers
  • Manage driver information in insurance databases, including Physical Damage (PD) and Occupational Accident insurance
  • Communicate with drivers regarding insurance coverage, claims, safety concerns, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure owner-operator agreements, insurance forms, and other required documentation are completed accurately
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance compliance , including preventive maintenance schedules, annual inspections, and repair records
  • Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs , including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing
  • Conduct safety meetings, driver coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Monitor fleet camera systems, telematics, and other safety technology
  • Investigate driver complaints and safety concerns and ensure issues are handled appropriately
  • Provide coaching and corrective action when necessary to address driver performance, compliance, or workplace conduct
  • Identify safety trends and implement corrective or preventive measures to reduce accidents, violations, and compliance issues
  • Coordinate with operations, dispatch, insurance providers, maintenance vendors, and management
  • Maintain accurate and organized safety records and prepare reports for management
  • Ensure all company drivers, vehicles, and transportation operations meet applicable federal and state requirements
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in transportation safety, trucking, logistics, DOT compliance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
  • Experience with DQ files, HOS, ELD systems, driver compliance, and safety procedures
  • Experience handling accidents, investigations, and transportation insurance claims
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to professionally handle driver concerns, conflicts, and corrective actions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and safety/compliance software
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
  • Russian/Ukrainian language proficiency preferred

Compensation: $16.90 hourly
