The Safety and Risk Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a safety-first culture. This role is critical in mitigating risks associated with our car hauling operations, driving continuous improvement in workplace safety, and promoting operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to enhance workplace safety and minimize operational risks.
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to ensure the effective integration of safety protocols into daily operations.
- Conduct regular safety assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees on safety matters, including organizing training sessions and awareness programs.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, corrective actions, and safety metrics, reporting regularly to senior management.
- Coordinate and lead safety training sessions, workshops, and emergency drills to ensure employees are well-prepared for hazardous situations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on safety data and key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Review and monitor ELD safety videos, offering coaching and developing new KPIs based on recurring incidents.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT compliance.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in transportation safety management, preferably within the auto transport logistics industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software tools.
- Hands-on experience in coaching and mentoring employees in best car hauling practices at terminals.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful safety programs and initiatives that have led to measurable improvements in safety outcomes.
