Job summary

Sheakley is seeking a Project Safety Manager for a large-scale electrical and utility construction data center project in Sidney, OH. The role oversees a safety team, partners with project management, electrical supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel, balancing field leadership with strategic safety execution.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years in site safety, 3 years in a lead safety leadership role, NFPA 70E, OSHA 500, CHST, and a strong background in electrical construction

Qualifications

  • 10 years of construction site safety experience.
  • 3 years of experience serving in a Lead Safety Manager, Project Safety Manager, or comparable onsite safety leadership role.
  • NFPA 70E Training/Certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Strong electrical construction safety experience
  • CHST Certification
  • OSHA 500 Certification
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control experience
  • Electrical energization and commissioning experience
  • Utility construction experience
  • Additional ASP, CSP, Or Other BCSP Credential

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead Project Safety Manager for electrical and utility construction operations.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to multiple field safety technicians.
  • Assign safety coverage and ensure appropriate oversight of active work areas.
  • Mentor safety personnel and maintain consistent safety expectations across the project.
  • Maintain a highly visible field presence alongside electrical crews and supervision.
  • Oversee electrical installation, utility, and infrastructure construction activities.
  • Monitor high-risk electrical work and ensure NFPA 70E requirements are followed.
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazardous energy control, and electrical safe work practices.
  • Conduct and oversee site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, pre-task plans, and high-risk work activities.
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Track safety deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain project safety documentation, reports, metrics, and compliance records.
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce proactive hazard recognition.
  • Promote accountability and a strong safety culture throughout the project.

Construction Project Safety Manager

Location: Sidney, OH

Duration: 12 Months (Immediate Need)

Type: 1099 Contractor

Pay Rate: $70/hr (Local) | $52/hr (Non-Local)

Overtime: Paid After 40 Hours at 1.4x Base Rate

Per Diem: $125/Day (7 Days Per Week for Non-Local Candidates)

Completion Bonus: $150/month

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: Monday-Saturday | 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM | 50-60 Hours Per Week

Possible Sunday Work as Project Needs Require
