Individuals and families build permanent, positive change in their lives through safe and affordable housing, sound mental and physical health, and employment and financial stability.

Working collaboratively with individuals, businesses, government, and other service providers, St. Patrick Center aims to end chronic homelessness in the St. Louis region through Housing First, an evidence-based practice that removes barriers, conducts early intake and assessment, moves people into housing, and offers support to achieve their goals.

Position Summary

St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is hiring a Safety Manager to supervise, guide, and assist our Client Services Monitor team. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety and building security, especially when working with vulnerable populations. The Safety Manager will ensure clients feel welcomed and supported, develop training programs, and collaborate with community partners to enhance safety measures for all staff and clients at St. Patrick Center. This is a full-time position with core hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Overview and Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide the Client Services Monitor team in duty completion and crisis management.
• Schedule staff to ensure all shifts at the Tucker building are covered.
• Collaborate with SPC leadership to develop a comprehensive safety plan for all locations and programs.
• Lead the SPC Safety Committee and participate in CCSTL Federation Safety Committee meetings.
• Ensure safety manuals and procedures comply with accreditation standards.
• Develop and implement staff training on de-escalation and safety techniques.
• Engage with law enforcement, neighbors, alders, and community stakeholders to improve safety.
• Document incidents and track safety trends, notifying senior leaders as needed.
• Use de-escalation techniques and judge when to call emergency services.
• Provide a welcoming presence for visitors and service seekers.
• Respond to “Red Folder” calls at various agency locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of experience with the unhoused population.
• 5-10 years of Client Services Monitor experience.
• Law enforcement background preferred.
• Reliable vehicle and valid auto insurance preferred.
• Valid driver’s license (Class E for MO residents).

Skills and Competencies

• Ability to engage with diverse populations.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Minimum of 37.5 hours per week.

Resources and Accountability

• Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff.
• Oversee daily workflow and provide performance evaluations.
• Handle disciplinary actions per agency policy.
