Job summary

M.J. Nester Specialty Contractors is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to own and advance the company’s safety program across field and shop operations in Pottstown, PA.

The role includes training, incident investigation, OSHA recordkeeping, workers compensation, and ensuring customer/regulatory compliance while collaborating with Construction Services. The position carries stop-work authority and requires leadership to enforce safety standards, audit sites, manage budgets, and report findings

Qualifications

• Three or more years of safety experience in construction, industrial services, or a plant environment.
• OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 500, CHST, or CSP preferred.
• Experience with customer safety qualification platforms such as ISNetworld or Avetta.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work off-shift hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Own the safety program, policies, and job-specific procedures and keep them current.
• Maintain hazard-specific programs (lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, hot work, rigging, powered industrial truck, respiratory protection).
• Conduct job hazard analyses for new or high-risk scopes before work begins.
• Maintain safety data sheet library, chemical inventory, and hazard communication program.
• Own and manage the annual safety budget within limits set by leadership.
• Deliver and coordinate training including OSHA 10/30, powered industrial truck, rigging, aerial lift, first aid and CPR, lockout/tagout.
• Conduct new hire safety orientation and maintain certification documentation.
• Support apprenticeship and workforce development and coach foremen on safety leadership.
• Conduct regular jobsite and shop audits and verify customer/site rules are followed.
