Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's Mt. Jewett MDF facility in Pennsylvania seeks a Safety Manager to lead the safety program, applying the PBM framework and guiding principles to reduce risk and improve culture.

You will partner with plant leadership to implement safety strategies, train supervisors and staff, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards while driving Path to Zero initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
• Experience leading safety programs in industrial/manufacturing environments; CSP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership establishing a meaningful safety vision and effective strategies.
• Mentor and develop direct and indirect reports to build skills and team performance.
• Promote a safety culture aligned with Path to Zero and Safety Vision.
• Drive safety initiatives/programs (HOP, CSO Teams, Training).
• Lead risk assessment methods to identify hazards and mitigate gaps.
• Actively manage compliance including OSHA PSM and Worker's Compensation.
• Address facility risk with prevention and recovery controls.
• Recommend engineering changes to reduce risk (guards, ergonomics, etc.).
• Drive flawless execution of safe work practices.
• Support capital projects to ensure safe execution (change management, reviews, permits).
• Identify safety training needs.
• Drive continuous improvement via audits, investigations, metrics and reviews.
