Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC in Gurdon, AR seeks a Facility Safety Manager to lead safety strategy for the plywood mill. You will drive risk assessment, implement key controls, and ensure OSHA and company standards are met, with ownership by plant leadership.

You will develop and deploy behavior-based safety programs, guide capital project safety, and foster a culture of continuous improvement through audits, training, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Safety leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering.
• CSP certification is preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership and direction through a meaningful safety vision and strategies.
• Lead development and use of risk assessment methods to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazards and drive mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards and assign ownership to appropriate roles.
• Address facility risk through development and implementation of key controls.
• Recommend and facilitate safety-related design changes to reduce risk (machine guarding, ergonomics, etc.).
• Drive flawless execution and continuous improvement of safe work practices.
• Support capital projects with safe design, reviews, and permits.
• Identify training needs in safety and culture.
• Drive continuous improvement using audits, incident investigations, metrics, and periodic reviews of performance and culture.
