Job summary

Granite Construction seeks an enthusiastic safety-oriented intern to assist with accident prevention program administration at an Anchorage location. You will help develop safety initiatives, conduct jobsite inspections, and support training to reinforce company policy and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes mentoring, teamwork, and strong communication in a fast-paced construction environment. Travel may be required, and bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Occupational Health.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach, mentor and lead.
• Ability to work in a high production environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Promote compliance with the safety program and local accident prevention efforts to meet safety goals.
• Assist in development and implementation of safety programs to meet/exceed standards.
• Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with emphasis on hazard recognition and corrective actions.
• Assist in safety meetings and training programs for effective policy communication.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations.
• Assist in development/review of job hazard analyses for major project phases.
• Assist in investigation and maintenance of records for third-party, asset loss, and workers' compensation claims.
• Assist with follow-up with corporate insurance regarding claims to ensure timely resolution.
