Job summary

Granite Construction in Indio, California, is seeking a Safety Intern for Summer 2027 to support the accident prevention program and safety compliance at an assigned location. The role offers hands-on experience in safety program development, site inspections, training coordination, and incident records, with opportunities to mentor others and travel as needed.

Must be enrolled in a safety or occupational health bachelor's program and ready to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Safety or Occupational Health.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to teach, mentor and lead.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work in a high production environment.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• English/Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote compliance with the safety program and accident prevention.
• Assist in developing and implementing safety programs.
• Perform and document jobsite inspections and hazard recognition.
• Assist in safety meetings and training programs.
• Support regulatory inspections and safety investigations.
• Assist in job hazard analyses for major project phases.
• Assist with claims records and coordination with insurance.
• Follow up with insurance to ensure timely resolution.
