Job summary

City of Hendersonville, NC is seeking an experienced Human Resources Coordinator to oversee risk management, safety, workers’ compensation, and related programs. You will develop policies, coordinate safety initiatives, and maintain essential records and reports across City departments.

The role emphasizes independent judgment in safety program development, incident investigations, and compliance with state and federal regulations, reporting to the Human Resources Director.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in risk management, industrial safety, or related field and 3 years or less municipal risk management/occupational safety experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 4–7 years municipal risk management/occupational safety experience; certifications preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years municipal risk management/occupational safety experience; required certifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and implement safety programs; ensure compliance with safety regulations; maintain records and reports.
• Research OSHA, NCDOT, EPA regulations to determine applicability to City and departments.
• Develop policies to comply with regulations or limit liability.
• Audit safety and risk management policies and communicate trends to leadership and teams.
• Serve as point of contact for OSHA and workplace safety authorities.
• Educate employees on safety through training programs and materials.
