Job summary

ITW is offering a Safety & HR Internship designed to immerse you in both Environmental Health & Safety and Human Resources within a manufacturing setting.

You will split time between safety initiatives and HR projects, using data and AI tools to improve workplace safety and employee experiences. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship from safety and HR professionals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing aBachelor's degree in related fields
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Interest in workplace safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Experience with data analysis, AI tools, or safety programs is a plus

Responsibilities

• Safety & Environmental responsibilities (Approximately 80%): Conducing and documenting confined space audits; digitizing safety records; PPE audits; creating AI-generated safety training content; updating emergency plans and evacuation diagrams; analyzing incident data and building dashboards; supporting compliance initiatives; contributing to continuous improvement.
• HR responsibilities (Approximately 20%): Supporting HR projects and process improvements; assisting with employee engagement and communications; exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR processes; partnering with HR team on business needs; learning the HR Generalist role in manufacturing.
