Job summary

OxyChem in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Chemical Operator to join our fast-paced plant. You will monitor process conditions, operate equipment, and help maintain safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED completed.
• Process Technology Degree or minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts; weekends; holidays; overtime; and respond to callouts.
• Willingness to serve on Emergency Response Team.
• Read, write and speak English.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and health and safety as a top priority.
• Conduct routine operating inspections and troubleshoot problems; respond to emergencies.
• Operate field equipment and monitor process conditions using instrumentation.
• Follow SOPs to ensure safe operation and environmental integrity.
• Maintain log readings, lab results, shift production, and equipment issues.
• Initiate work requests and prepare equipment for maintenance; lockout procedures.
