Job summary

Michelman is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Team Leader for the 3rd shift to support a specialty chemical manufacturing team. The role backs up the Shift Supervisor, provides direction, troubleshooting, and ensures safe, reliable shift operations with organized handoffs.

You will coordinate production priorities, support operators, uphold standard work, and communicate across Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and other functions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on chemical manufacturing experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to guide peers, support new hire training, reinforce standard work.
• Understanding of EHS, quality, housekeeping, chemical handling, and production documentation.
• Ability to read batch sheets, SOPs, safety data sheets, labels, production schedules, process data.

Responsibilities

• Provide shift direction as backup to Shift Supervisor and coordinate work assignments.
• Offer technical knowledge and troubleshooting support during batch production, packaging, and utilities.
• Help organize the shift by balancing staffing and preparing work areas for handoffs.
• Safely operate and monitor production equipment (reactors, kettles, mixers, etc.).
• Monitor process parameters, identify abnormal conditions, and escalates concerns promptly.
• Reinforce standard work, housekeeping, PPE, and safe chemical handling practices.
• Support equipment readiness, changeovers, line clearances, and batch documentation.
• Coach and guide operators to build technical capability and safe work practices.
