Job summary

Chatham County Public Works seeks a hands‑on Safety, Fleet, and Asset Coordinator to lead safety training, manage compliance programs, and coordinate fleet maintenance across divisions. You will serve as lead investigator for work‑related incidents and head the Accident Review Committee, while supporting CDL compliance and drug/alcohol testing programs.

The role requires preparing investigation reports, developing corrective actions, and ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a relevant field and 5+ years’ experience in training large groups.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in public works, fleet maintenance, or occupational safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and coordinate safety training programs for Public Works personnel.
• Lead accident investigations and chair the Accident Review Committee, determining preventability and actions.
• Coordinate routine preventive maintenance for departmental vehicles and heavy equipment, liaising with vendors and operators.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the Safety, Fleet, and Asset coordination scope.
