Job summary

Silgan Containers in Seymour, IN is seeking a production operator responsible for product safety and quality across the line, and for promoting a safe working environment in compliance with all Silgan safety policies.

You will monitor ware for defects, pack at standard rate, operate a punch, load conveyors and flamers, perform line housekeeping, label units, and carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below.
• Promote a safe working environment
• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
