Job summary

Silgan Containers in Seymour, IN is seeking a line operator to support packaging operations on a manufacturing line. You will monitor quality, pack at standard rate, operate a punch, load conveyors and flamers, and keep the work area clean.

Candidates must be able to lift 30–40 lb materials and follow safety policies. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to company policies, and willingness to perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below.
• Promote a safe working environment
• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
