Job summary

Silgan Containers in Seymour, IN seeks a packaging operator to support manufacturing operations and ensure product safety and quality across all duties. The role requires adherence to safety policies and efficient packing at standard rates on the line.

The ideal candidate will monitor quality, operate basic packaging equipment, and maintain housekeeping on the production floor. This is a full‑time, on‑site position offering growth within a leading metal food containers manufacturer.

Responsibilities

• Ensure product safety and quality across all duties listed.
• Promote a safe working environment.
• Understand and adhere to Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or the coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ability to work with 30-40 lb. materials
