Job summary

Hussmann's Summer Internship Program invites a Safety Intern to support the EHS team through field audits, training materials, and incident investigations. You will help maintain safety docs, promote a prevention-focused culture, and collaborate with manufacturing teams.

The 12-week program includes cross-functional team work, mentoring from leaders, and a final presentation of the business proposal to executives, with potential roadmapping for future innovations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled pursuing a bachelor’s degree (safety, environmental, or engineering preferred).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and work in industrial environments.
• Ability to relocate if not local.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain safety documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.
• Work with the safety team at the manufacturing plant.
• Identify workplace hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop or revise safety procedures, manuals, and related documentation.
• Network with leaders and interns to learn about the organization.
• Tour Hussmann's manufacturing facility and R&D Lab.
• Participate in community outreach, career events, and team-building activities.
• Compete in the Ideation & Innovation Challenge.
