Job summary

Hussmann's Summer Internship Program invites students to join the Safety team as a Safety Intern in the 2027 program. You will conduct field audits, develop training materials, and assist with incident investigations while gaining exposure to senior leadership.

The twelve‑week internship includes manufacturing plant work, safety documentation updates, and a cross‑functional Ideation & Innovation Challenge with mentors and executives. Applicants must be enrolled and ready to relocate if not local.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in school pursuing a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (safety, environmental, or engineering program preferred).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to relocate, if not local

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain safety documentation to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Promote and reinforce a proactive, prevention‑focused safety culture across the organization.
• Work with the safety team on ongoing safety efforts throughout the manufacturing plant.
• Identify potential hazards in the workplace and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop, revise, or create safety procedures, manuals, and related documentation.
• Network with senior leaders, associates, and other interns to learn about the organization.
• Tour Hussmann's manufacturing facility and R&D Lab.
• Participate in community stewardship outreach and team-building events.
• Compete in the Ideation & Innovation Challenge.

Education

Bachelor's degree (safety, environmental, or engineering program preferred)
