Job summary

Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is seeking a Safety Coordinator to promote and maintain a safe work environment. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting inspections, and coordinating training for employees.

The position combines office and field work with standard hours and occasional remote opportunities. A relevant degree and 1–3 years of experience are required, with OSHA 30 preferred and CSP/ASP preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
• Requires 1–3 years of workplace safety experience.
• Driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred; CSP/ASP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety programs.
• Conduct regular inspections and hazard identification; follow up on corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents and coordinate with Risk/insurance teams.
• Coordinate safety training and orientation for staff.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and support audits.
• Assist with emergency preparedness and drills.
• Collect safety data and generate reports on trends.
