Job summary

Capital in Missouri is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support railroad, bridge and structural construction projects. This role works with field leadership and crews to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and help deliver projects safely and efficiently.

You will conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, lead toolbox talks, assist with JHAs, and investigate incidents. Strong communication and OSHA knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction safety experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in railroad, bridge, structural steel, or heavy civil construction preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
• Experience conducting field safety inspections and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, railroad, and company safety requirements.
• Support work activities within active railroad rights-of-way.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee training.
• Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task planning, and safety documentation.
• Monitor fall protection, crane operations, excavation, rigging, and structural work activities.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and railroad representatives to maintain safe operations.
