Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supervising the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Inspect facility operations regularly to ensure safe job practices, proper use of protective equipment, and operational machine/process guards.
2. Investigate accidents and near-misses, identify trends and causes, and implement corrective measures.
3. Collaborate with management to develop safety programs and incentives.
4. Conduct safety training for new hires and ensure understanding of safety policies.
5. Train employees on the safe operation of machinery and equipment.
6. Chair the Safety Committee.
7. Ensure adequate first aid and CPR trained personnel and maintain safety and medical supplies.
8. Conduct and certify forklift training.
9. Coordinate fire inspections and regulatory agency tours.
10. Monitor the hearing conservation program.
11. Coordinate work duties for employees with medical restrictions.
12. Maintain communication with management, HR, and claims administrators.
13. Keep OSHA 300 log and other reports up to date.
14. Prepare reports as required.
15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
4. Preferred: experience in First Aid and CPR, and knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
