The position will work closely with Environmental Health & Safety staff and facility team members to support a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
General
- Comply with OSHA, Owens Corning, and other workplace regulations.
- Investigate safety concerns and submit SAP work requests as needed.
- Assist in TPM system implementation.
- Participate in daily production shift huddles to communicate EHS initiatives.
- Support 24-hour operations by working different shifts as required.
- Maintain inventory of PPE and safety supplies.
- Input purchase requisitions for safety and operating supplies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and support housekeeping efforts.
- Perform other duties as directed by the EH&S Leader.
Safety
- Understand OSHA safety standards and Owens Corning safety programs.
- Assist with compliance in critical safety areas such as powered industrial vehicles, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, working at heights, confined space, electrical safety, and hot work.
- Conduct or facilitate lockout training and become an Owens Corning forklift trainer.
- Support safety-related questions and investigations, and develop safety training programs.
- Conduct safety orientations and audits for contractors and new hires.
- Maintain emergency equipment and report non-compliance issues.
Environmental
- Lead compliance efforts for environmental permits and programs (e.g., Title V, NJPDES, SPCC, FRP, DCR, EPCRA, Safe Drinking Water, Radiation License).
- Manage environmental compliance calendar and SDS inventory.
- Conduct facility inspections and report non-compliance issues.
- Collect data supporting environmental compliance efforts.
Health
- Assist with industrial hygiene surveys and health concerns.
- Manage chemical hazards and confined space procedures.
- Ensure compliance with hearing conservation standards.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills in English.
- Maintain good attendance and a team-oriented attitude.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software (SAP, AspenTech, etc.).
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
- Experience in an industrial environment and safety training preferred.
- Forklift trainer experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical movements required in an industrial setting.
- Exposure to temperature extremes and noise levels.
