Job Overview
The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role within the Compliance and Safety team alongside the Operations Department. The primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator is to facilitate safety-related activities such as training, drills, emergency response planning, and daily safety management.
- Act as a liaison between departments, ensuring safety protocols, policies, and procedures are consistently followed across all project phases.
- Report directly to the Safety Officer, monitor safety performance, address concerns, conduct audits, and track/resolve safety incidents through safety tickets.
- Ensure the safety of job sites and workplaces, identify hazards, and contribute to continuous safety improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Support: Assist in implementing and communicating safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry standards.
- Training & Drills: Organize safety training sessions, drills, and emergency response plans to prepare the team for safety incidents.
- Safety Audits & Monitoring: Conduct audits and inspections, evaluate risks using a 5x5 Risk Matrix, and identify areas for improvement to enhance workplace safety.
- Safety Incident Reporting & Tracking: Document incidents using safety management software, ensure follow-up, and maintain accurate logs.
- Safety Tickets: Manage safety tickets for hazards and incidents, ensuring timely resolution.
- Safety Documentation & Reporting: Maintain safety records and provide regular performance reports to the Safety Officer.
- Ongoing Safety Improvements: Develop and refine safety policies and procedures to foster a safety-focused culture.
- On-Call Safety Support: Provide emergency support to address hazards promptly.
Qualifications:
- Education: Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) and related experience or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 4 years in a safety-related role, preferably in construction or industrial sectors.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety standards, OSHA regulations, and best practices.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for conveying safety information and collaborating across teams.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying and mitigating safety hazards.
Requirements:
- Flexibility: Willing to work overtime as needed.
- Travel: Up to 55%, including local (30%) and occasional out-of-town (25%) travel within and outside Phoenix, AZ.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
- License: Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record.
Compensation:
- Pay Range: $24.00 to $29.00 per hour, depending on experience.
