Job description

Job Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and coordinating all IES safety policies and programs, including safety training and inspections for the assigned project and others as needed. Ensures compliance with all IES and Site/Customer safety policies and procedures, as well as Federal and State Standards. Develops and manages Safety/Health initiatives aimed at preventing and eliminating occupational incidents, injuries, and illnesses. EMT or higher credentials are strongly preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Support all IES and Site/Customer safety policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Standards.
  2. Perform safety presentations, develop safety training, and conduct safety audits/inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies and standards.
  3. Oversee activities involving confined space entry, including documentation and training.
  4. Identify potential hazards, develop safety action plans, and work with operations and management to implement corrective measures.
  5. Deliver safety orientation and training for new employees and ongoing safety training for management and field personnel.
  6. Prepare reports on safety audits, investigations, and issues; conduct root cause analyses on incidents and near misses.
  7. Lead OSHA inspections and communicate effectively with project stakeholders.
  8. Maintain safety records and reports; mentor stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture.
  9. Coordinate activities with site management and perform other assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Minimum of a High School diploma or GED; Associate degree or higher preferred. EMT or higher credentials are strongly preferred. At least five years of experience in construction safety, preferably in telecommunications or electrical industries. Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, Confined Space Entry Standards, and OSHA outreach trainer certification are preferred. Excellent communication, computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are required. Ability to travel within the territory and lift up to 50 lbs is necessary.
