Job summary

Potential Industries is seeking an experienced EHS professional to lead the injury & illness prevention program. You will analyze procedures, materials, machines, and work conditions to identify risks and implement controls to protect employees and company assets.

Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting risk assessments and incident investigations, delivering safety training, maintaining records, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the site.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in safety management and regulatory compliance similar to OSHA standards.
• Experience developing and coordinating injury and illness prevention programs.

Responsibilities

• Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
• Risk Assessment: Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Workers Compensation: Monitor injuries, work status, and treatment plans, coordinating with WC carriers.
• Safety Training & Education: Develop and deliver safety training for all levels of staff.
• Audits and Inspections: Perform safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain safety incident records, inspections, training and regulatory correspondence.
• Policy Development: Develop and update company safety policies and procedures.
• Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate safety concerns and promote a safety culture.
• Environmental Monitoring: Oversee monitoring programs to ensure environmental compliance.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and drills.
• Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain all safety records and injury-related documents.

Job Description Position Summary

Responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of the injury & illness prevention program including:Analyzing operating procedures, materials, machines, and conditions at work sites to determine risks of injury, occupational disease and damage to property and equipment.Developing measures for controlling workplace hazards and limiting monetary loss.Ensuring health and safety processes to achieve the company objectives, andComplying with local, state, and federal regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Compliance Management: Monitoring and ensuring adherence to all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Risk Assessment: Identifying potential hazards in the workplace, conducting risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
• Incident Investigation: Thoroughly investigating workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. If necessary, report injuries that meet OSHA reportable criteria and submit relevant requested documentation to regulatory agencies.
• Workers Compensation: Track and monitor all injuries, work status, and treatment plans for employees. Work with WC carriers and clinics to review programs and services related to Workers Compensation.
• Safety Training & Education: Developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs for new hired employees and employees at all levels, covering topics that are relevant to the work environment and industry.
• Audits and Inspections: Performing regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of safety incidents, near misses, inspections, training records, and compliance documentation.
• Policy Development: Development and implementation of company safety policies and procedures. Maintain self-study to ensure the company stays current on developing industry changes related to Safety on a local, state, and federal level in accordance with regulations.
• Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating safety concerns to management and employees, collaborating with other departments to promote a strong safety culture.
• Environmental Monitoring: Overseeing environmental monitoring programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and minimize the company’s environmental footprint.
• Emergency Preparedness: Developing and maintaining emergency response plans, including drills and training to ensure readiness for potential incidents.
• Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain inspection, training, job hazard analysis, testing reports, correspondence with regulatory agencies, injury investigation and related records, and all safety documents in an electronic file and hard copy, as necessary. Update all records timely. All topics of safety concern must be documented accordingly. Create injury profile folders accordingly.
