Job summary

Talently is seeking a field safety lead for construction sites in Austin with hybrid flexibility, traveling across Texas projects. The role focuses on incident prevention, safety training, and collaboration with project teams, contractors, and operations leadership to foster a proactive safety culture.

You will lead investigations, manage safety plans, and ensure compliance with crane operations, rigging, signaling and fall protection across active sites.

Qualifications

• Must-have: OSHA 30 minimum and strong field experience in precast erection or related construction operations.
• Extensive knowledge of crane operations, rigging, signaling and fall protection.
• Experience leading incident investigations and developing corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with ironworkers, foremen, superintendents, contractors and management.

Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-construction meetings and review safety requirements, logistics and erection sequencing.
• Respond to accidents, near misses, rigging failures, and field incidents promptly.
• Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and share lessons across teams.
• Deliver training on equipment operation, CPR/first aid, rigging and fall protection.
• Maintain site-specific safety plans, JHA, tie-off procedures and heat illness plans.
• Attend safety meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders.

The role is based in Austin with hybrid flexibility and travel to project locations throughout Texas.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in pre-construction meetings and review project-specific safety requirements, documentation, logistics, crane access, delivery routes, and erection sequencing.
• Respond promptly to accidents, near misses, rigging failures, equipment incidents, property damage, and other field-related events.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, develop corrective action plans, and communicate lessons learned to operations teams.
• Coordinate and deliver training related to equipment operation, CPR and first aid, competent person requirements, rigging, signaling, and fall protection.
• Maintain site-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses, tie-off procedures, stop-work policies, heat illness prevention plans, and equipment inspection procedures.
• Attend general contractor and owner safety meetings, address noncompliance reports, and coordinate site expectations with project stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with field crews, foremen, superintendents, plant personnel, contractors, and company management.
• Support a consistent safety culture by reinforcing accountability, encouraging immediate correction of unsafe acts, and developing field safety ownership.

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong field experience in precast erection or related construction operations.
• OSHA 30 certification as a minimum requirement.
• Extensive knowledge of crane operations, rigging, signaling, and fall protection.
• Understanding of erection sequencing, construction logistics, and active jobsite safety requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
• Ability to communicate effectively with ironworkers, foremen, superintendents, contractors, and management.
• Calm, professional incident response skills and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to travel to project locations throughout Texas as needed.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• OSHA 510 certification or the ability to complete the certification.
• CPR and first aid instructor training or certification.
• Experience developing field mentorship, apprenticeship, or micro-training programs.
• Knowledge of general contractor safety platforms and site-specific compliance systems.
• Experience supporting plant operations, equipment inspections, and manufacturing safety programs.
• Background managing or directing project-specific safety coordinators.
• Experience standardizing safety procedures across multiple crews or construction projects.
