Job summary

Gordon Food Service is seeking a Safety Coordinator to manage and enhance safety programs across their operations. The Safety Coordinator manages, delivers, monitors, and audits all established safety and accident prevention programs to ensure effective training and compliance standards are in place. Ensures compliance with GFS safety procedures and government safety regulations.

Schedule: 5-day work week, Sunday to Friday

Must be able to work between 6:00 am and Midnight; schedule may vary.

Compensation Range: $62,060 - $96,815 (based on experience)

What you'll need to bring to this position:

  • Conduct self-audits
  • Prior experience in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution or warehouse environment (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in an industrial environment (highly preferred)
  • Food service industry experience (highly preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (preferred)
  • Availability to support all shifts and departments as needed
  • Forklift certification and reach truck experience (preferred)
  • Limited travel (3-4 times per year)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks efficiently
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agencies
  • Awareness of safety development trends in warehouse/distribution

Other expectations include:

  • Deliver safety training and education programs
  • Conduct new hire and annual safety training
  • Monitor and report on training effectiveness
  • Manage incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Support safety practices across departments
  • Conduct safety inspections (fire, eyewash, fire suppression systems)
  • Collaborate with managers and the Home Office on safety initiatives
  • Support the Contractor Safety Program and Process Safety Management
  • Perform safety observations (PIV, fall protection, arc flash, LOTO)
  • Administer Back Strengthening Program where applicable
  • Track safety data and communicate compliance status
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting
  • Assist HR with leave, disability, FMLA, and dispute resolution as needed
