Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in workplace safety and health practices and regulations, demonstrated by their certifications and experience. The role is focused on ensuring compliance and fostering a strong safety culture within the industrial sector, including oil, gas, and utilities.

Position Summary:

Implements safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote occupational safety and prevent workplace accidents. Develops and deploys materials and resources to educate the workforce and raise awareness of safety procedures and best practices. Monitors and tracks safety metrics to evaluate program performance and prepares routine reports for management insight. Documents and investigates accidents, injuries, and safety concerns to understand the root cause and recommend solutions to improve workplace safety. Inspects and audits the organization’s procedures, facilities, and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance, proactively identify unsafe conditions, and implement safeguards and solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Safety Program Development and Regulatory Compliance – Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies while ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
  2. Perform Risk Assessment, Hazard Identification, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Perform regular safety audits and inspections.
  4. Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, and Reporting – Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and identify preventive measures.
  5. Collaborate with management and employees to promote a proactive safety culture across all departments.
  6. Coordinate with Project Teams.
  7. Documentation and Reporting – Maintain accurate documentation and recordkeeping of safety procedures, incidents, and compliance reports.
  8. Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans.
  9. Conduct safety training sessions and workshops.
  10. Perform regular safety inspections on vehicles and fire extinguishers.
  11. Enforce FMCSA DOT Compliance.
  12. Some travel to project sites and remote offices within the southwest region of the U.S.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • OSHA 10 – Basic safety and health hazard awareness in construction (required).
  • OSHA 30 – Comprehensive safety training for supervisors and workers with safety responsibilities in construction (required).
  • OSHA 500 – Eligible to teach OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses in construction safety and health.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification demonstrating a solid understanding of safety principles and practices.
  • Experience with safety program development, implementation, safety audits, and incident investigation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety regulations (OSHA & CalOSHA) and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-starter.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug test.
  • Subject to DOT and client-specific drug and alcohol testing programs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Work performed in both office and field environments.
  • Fieldwork may involve rough terrain, mountainous or desert regions, or urban traffic.
  • Outdoor work may include extreme weather conditions.
  • Extended periods of sitting for administrative tasks.
  • Outdoor activities may involve standing, stooping, bending, and walking.
