Job description

GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist with experience in Field Compliance Monitoring within our Energy Business Unit. This position is fully remote but will require travel to various project sites. Applicants should enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to expand knowledge in federal and state environmental regulations, primarily in Pennsylvania, with opportunities in West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform field monitoring of erosion and sediment controls on construction projects independently.
  2. Review specifications, permits, and related plans for site and linear construction projects.
  3. Prepare and review monitoring reports based on field observations.
  4. Assist in preparing environmental reports, permit applications, and closeout documents.
  5. Adhere to health and safety requirements of GAI and its clients.
  6. Maintain QA/QC standards following GAI’s Quality Management System.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with GPS devices and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass screening for driving GAI vehicles.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel (up to 75%), including overnight stays.

Preferred:

  • Associates degree in a relevant field and 2-4 years of field monitoring experience.
  • Experience with NPDES regulations, environmental compliance, AutoCAD, GIS, and related certifications.
Physical Demands
  • Walking in remote terrains, lifting up to 50 pounds, and field hazard awareness.
  • Pass a drug screening upon employment.
Additional Information
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or similar.
  • Technical skills in wetland delineation, ecological surveys, and regulatory compliance.
  • No managerial responsibilities at this level.
  • Effective communication skills required for client and team interactions.
