Job summary

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters seeks a Director of Safety and Compliance to oversee safety programs under Part 135, manage the Safety Management System, and lead drug and alcohol testing compliance as the DER. You will be the primary DOT/FAA contact and guide training and risk management initiatives.

The role supervises safety officers, drives RCA and SRM activities, coordinates ERP drills, and ensures regulatory alignment across OSHA, EPA, and related rules while fostering a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 10+ years related experience or equivalent
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, DER program, and company manuals
• Aviation safety experience in air tour operations preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direction on FAA Part 5 and safety requirements
• Maintain SMS documentation and records; ensure compliance with bridging documents
• Manage RCA and SRM efforts; facilitate RCA reviews and CAPA tracking
• Develop and manage safety and risk training; lead ERP and SWN drills
• Provide management training on safety risk management and policies
• Lead weekly safety meetings and report safety metrics to leadership
• Manage DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program as DER II; stay current on regulations
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, HIOSH and other regulatory requirements
