Job summary

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is seeking a Director of Safety and Compliance in Hawaii. The role oversees the Safety Management System and all safety programs under Part 135, serving as DER for drug and alcohol testing and primary DOT/FAA compliance contact.

Responsibilities include training, risk management, and regulatory reporting. The candidate will lead RCA/SRM activities, manage ERP drills, and drive safety culture across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 10+ years related experience or equivalent
• Familiarity with FAA DER program and SMS
• Experience in aviation safety within air tour operations preferred
• Industry certifications: CSP or ISSP preferred or DER II

Responsibilities

• Provide direction on FAA Part 5 and safety requirements
• Maintain Safety Management System documentation and records
• Manage RCA and SRM efforts and CAPA process
• Develop and lead safety and risk training and drills
• Lead safety meetings and weekly safety reporting
• Oversee DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program as DER
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, HIOSH, and other regs
