Job summary

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is seeking a Director of Safety and Compliance in Hawaii to lead the company’s safety and risk programs under Part 135. You will manage the SMS, oversee RCA/SRM, and direct training and emergency drills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years related experience or equivalent
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, DER Program and the Company’s Operational Manual(s).
• Working knowledge of helicopter tour operations and maintenance.
• Two or more years of aviation safety experience within air tour operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and consultation on FAA Part 5 and safety requirements.
• Maintain SMS documentation and records; ensure compliance with bridging docs and safety.
• Manage RCA and SRM efforts; facilitate RCA review board; track CAPA actions.
• Develop/manage safety and risk training; ensure base safety officers train and audit programs.
• Provide management training on safety risk management and policies.
• Lead weekly safety meetings with leadership; report on safety metrics and foster reporting culture.
• Assist in evaluating field operations and support functions to ensure safety.
• Manage DOT Drug and Alcohol testing as DER; stay current on DOT/Federal rules.
• Execute tasks to maintain compliance with FAA/DOT regulations for testing/reporting.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, HIOSH, DOT-A and other regulatory requirements.
