Job summary

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters seeks a Director of Safety and Compliance to oversee all safety programs under Part 135, manage the SMS, and serve as DER for drug and alcohol testing, coordinating with DOT and FAA.

The role involves developing training, leading safety meetings, ensuring regulatory compliance across FAA, DOT, EPA, OSHA, HIOSH, and related agencies, with emphasis on risk management and a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 10+ years’ related experience.
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, DER program, and the Company’s Operational Manual(s).
• Experience in helicopter tour operations is preferred.
• Degree in Safety or formalized safety training preferred.
• Experience in safety program management and risk training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction on FAA Part 5 and operational safety requirements.
• Maintain SMS documentation and ensure FAA compliance.
• Lead RCA and SRM efforts and CAPA tracking.
• Develop and lead safety and risk training and ERP drills.
• Provide management training on risk management and safety policies.
• Lead weekly safety meetings and report safety metrics.
• Oversee DOT Drug and Alcohol testing as DER.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, HIOSH, DOT-A and related regulations.
