Job summary

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters seeks a Director of Safety and Compliance to manage all safety programs under Part 135 and the SMS. This role serves as DER and primary contact for DOT/FAA compliance on drug and alcohol testing, with oversight of training, risk assessments, and incident reporting.

The position oversees RCA/SRM activities, ERP/SWN drills, and weekly safety meetings, ensuring adherence to FAA and regulatory requirements across operations. Significant travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 10+ years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, DER program and company manuals
• Working knowledge of helicopter tour operations and maintenance
• Two+ years aviation safety experience within air tour operations preferred
• Degree in Safety and/or formalized safety training preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direction on FAA Part 5 and operational safety requirements
• Maintain SMS documentation and records; ensure compliance
• Manage RCA and SRM; facilitate RCA reviews and CAPA tracking
• Develop and manage safety and risk training; lead ERP and SWN drills
• Train management on safety risk management and safety policies
• Lead weekly safety meetings and report safety metrics
• Manage DOT Drug and Alcohol testing as DER; stay updated on regulations
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, HIOSH and other regs
