Job summary

Viaero Fiber in Grand Island, NE is seeking a Safety Coordinator to lead safety programs across our telecommunications and construction operations. You will implement trainings, monitor DOT compliance, maintain records, and promote a safety-first culture among employees, contractors, and visitors.

The ideal candidate has OSHA 30-Hour certification, strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT rules, experience with hazard assessments, and excellent communication skills. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in telecom/utility/construction with fall protection safety.
• Ability to develop and coordinate safety programs and trainings.
• Deep knowledge of safety laws and OSHA standards.
• Understanding of DOT driver qualification requirements and Clearing House.
• Experience performing hazard assessments and implementing controls.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training staff.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits.
• Recommend control measures to maintain safe work conditions.
• Lead safety meetings and provide materials for crew briefings.
• Maintain records of incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
• Ensure DOT regulatory compliance and driver qualification files.
• Deliver new hire safety orientations and training.
• Travel to sites up to 30% for training and safety advisement.
• Coach contractors on safe practices at job sites.
• Coordinate training on tower climbing, lockout/tagout, fall protection.
• Review job descriptions for specialized safety training.
• Assist HR with drug and alcohol testing program.
• Monitor PPE usage and manage PPE inventory.
• Collaborate to foster safety culture and accountability.
• Work with HR on safety program development and documentation.
• Stay current with industry safety standards.
