Job summary

OC2 Occidental Chemical Corporation is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to support Private Carriage facilities in Geismar, LA, and Wichita, KS. The role focuses on protecting the environment, safety of employees, customers, and communities, and ensuring compliance with DOT/OSHA regulations and company HESS policies.

You will lead safety training, auditing, incident investigations, and risk assessments, working with plant operations and corporate risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years’ safety/environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Thorough understanding of DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations as well as OxyChem's HESS policies and procedures.
• Ability to analyze data and translate technical information for non-technical personnel.

• Support and facilitate employee involvement in safety, health, and security and emergency response systems.
• Implement safety programs through training, inspections, exposure monitoring, incident investigations, and record keeping.
• Provide input for supervisory decisions, cost control, and maintain necessary records.
