Job summary

Occidental Chemical Corporation is seeking an experienced Chemical Operator for its Wichita, Kansas facility. The role focuses on protecting the environment and employee safety while monitoring process conditions and operating unit equipment.

You will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and participate in maintenance planning. A High School diploma or GED and Process Technology training or equivalent experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Process Technology Degree or 2+ years relevant experience in chemical plant/manufacturing.
• Strong math, reading, and mechanical reasoning; strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work a rotating shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts.
• Willingness to be Emergency Response Team member.
• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Physical: lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, wear PPE including respirator, respond to alarms.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environment protection and safety as top priority.
• Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot problems, respond to emergencies.
• Operate field equipment and monitor process conditions via instrumentation.
• Maintain logs of readings, lab results, and shift production requirements.
• Initiate work requests and perform minor maintenance; prepare equipment for maintenance.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance (lockout/tagout, permits).
• Make minor repairs and initiate maintenance via SAP notifications.
• Notify supervision and other personnel of malfunctions and troubleshoot issues.
