Job summary

LSB Chemical L.L.C. in Cherokee, AL, seeks a Safety Specialist to support the Safety & Security team and drive a Safety-First culture across the site.

You will align with core values, implement the annual H&S plan, train staff, collect metrics, and close audit findings. A science degree is required (BS preferred) or an Associate with 5 years of direct plant safety experience. Strong communication and OSHA knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science discipline or related field.
• Associate degree with 5 years direct plant safety experience acceptable in lieu of BS.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations (29 CFR) and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Safety-First Culture with stop-work authority by anyone in the organization.
• Assist with data gathering to support, capture and develop metrics to measure progress and improvement opportunities.
• Execute the annual H&S plan with systematic, transparent measures.
• Support the Safety Committee and build relationships with operations and supervision.
• Maintain knowledge of plant systems to drive progress and solutions.
• Coordinate PPE, forms, and safety equipment needs; manage air monitoring devices.
• Support emergency response capability through training and drills.
• Provide technical support to facilities personnel to maintain OSHA compliance.
• Close action items from audits, investigations, and self-assessments.
• Assist with off-hours on-call safety coverage.
