Rise Modular in Minnesota is seeking a Safety and Training Manager to lead the organization’s Safety, Training, Environmental, and Occupational Health programs, with primary emphasis on workplace safety and employee training.

You will develop and execute programs to prevent injuries, ensure regulatory compliance, own onboarding and ongoing skills training, supervise the Training Coordinator, and partner with operations to identify needs, measure outcomes, and drive continuous safety and learning

Safety and Training Manager
Position Summary

The Safety and Training Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s Safety, Training, Environmental, and Occupational Health programs, with primary emphasis on workplace safety and employee training.

This role leads the development and execution of programs designed to prevent workplace injuries, strengthen employee capability, ensure regulatory compliance, and build a proactive culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.

The Safety and Training Manager serves as the primary leader for workplace safety incidents, injury management, near misses, risk assessment, inspections, and regulatory compliance. The role also owns the overall employee training program, ensuring employees receive effective onboarding, safety, compliance, job-specific, and ongoing skills training.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
  • Lead the organization’s workplace safety program and promote a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture.
  • Serve as the primary case manager for workplace safety incidents, injuries, and near misses, coordinating response and investigation from initial report through corrective action and case closure.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and partner with Operations leadership to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, programs, and protocols designed to reduce workplace hazards.
  • Conduct and oversee safety audits, inspections, observations, job hazard assessments, and workplace risk assessments.
  • Identify safety and compliance gaps and partner with operational leaders to implement timely corrective actions.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to establish safety expectations, reinforce accountability, and achieve safety performance goals.
  • Track and analyze incidents, near misses, leading indicators, corrective actions, and other safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety through communication, coaching, recognition, and proactive hazard identification.
Training & Employee Development
  • Own and continuously improve the organization’s operational training program, including new-hire onboarding, safety training, job-specific training, cross-training, refresher training, and ongoing skills development.
  • Manage and provide direction to the Training Coordinator, including priorities, performance expectations, coaching, and professional development.
  • Partner with Operations leaders and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop appropriate training solutions.
  • Develop and maintain structured training plans, curriculum, materials, job aids, qualification standards, and training documentation.
  • Ensure employees receive required safety, compliance, and job-specific training within established timelines.
  • Establish processes to measure training completion, competency, knowledge retention, and overall training effectiveness.
  • Support the development and qualification of trainers, leads, and supervisors responsible for delivering on-the-job training.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through employee feedback, observations, assessments, safety performance, quality results, and operational performance.
  • Identify skill and knowledge gaps and recommend additional training, retraining, coaching, or process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate employee training and qualification records.
  • Lead applicable environmental compliance programs and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Maintain required environmental permits, records, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Identify environmental risks and partner with Operations to implement corrective actions and continuous improvements.
Occupational Health
  • Lead occupational health programs designed to reduce workplace exposures and protect employee health.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Operations, and medical providers on workplace injuries, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and other occupational health needs.
  • Monitor occupational health trends and workplace exposures and implement appropriate preventive actions and controls.
Standard Tasks
  • Develop, review, and maintain content for Daily Toolbox Talks.
  • Participate in Pre-Shift Meetings and support Toolbox Talks, stretching programs, and other safety communications.
  • Develop and review safety, compliance, onboarding, and operational training content.
  • Conduct safety and environmental audits, inspections, observations, and risk assessments.
  • Review training completion, employee qualifications, and competency records.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the Training Specialist and establish training priorities based on operational needs.
  • Monitor safety incidents, injuries, near misses, corrective actions, environmental issues, and associated training needs.
  • Maintain required safety, training, environmental, and occupational health records within applicable systems.
  • Manage applicable permits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Attend operational, safety, training, and leadership meetings as required.
  • Provide regular reporting on safety and training performance, trends, risks, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Training and Development, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • Demonstrated and progressive experience in workplace safety, training, environmental compliance, manufacturing, construction, or a related operational environment.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee training programs.
  • Experience conducting workplace safety investigations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Experience with environmental and occupational health compliance preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental and occupational health requirements.
  • CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar safety certification preferred.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop effective training materials and translate technical or operational information into practical employee training.
  • Strong investigation, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to analyze safety and training data and identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leadership.

Typical Work Environment
  • Primarily works within an indoor construction/manufacturing environment with some office and outdoor yard activity.
  • Regular presence on the production floor and active engagement with employees and operational leaders is required.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other PPE as applicable.
  • Must be able to work safely within an active manufacturing/construction environment.

The salary range for this role is$100,000 – $115,000(Annually). Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Rise Modular’s Total Rewards package for employees.
