Job summary

Rise Modular in Minnesota is seeking an Architectural Design Lead to drive the modular state submittal process and coordinate architectural design through pre-construction. You will manage drafting teams, align with Architects of Record and consultants, and set schedules to ensure manufacturing-ready plans and BIM standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of progressive architectural design and coordination experience.
  • 3+ years leading architectural designers, BIM modelers, drafters, or design teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction documents, detailing, and building assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of commercial building codes, accessibility, and life safety requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with Architects of Record, engineers, consultants, municipalities, and permitting agencies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Develop modular state submittal plans and coordinate architectural design during pre-construction.
  • Lead the architectural drafting team and manage SD/DD/CD deliverables, shop drawings.

Architectural Design Lead

The primary responsibility of the Architectural Design Lead is to develop the Modular State Submittal Plans and coordinate the architectural modular design during the pre-construction process. This position will also include coordination of architectural plans and components up to the manufacturing phase of the project. During these processes the lead must work closely with the Architect (AOR) and outside consultants to develop architectural plans and coordinate scope of work for the project. This lead must determine the project schedule and manage the deliverables required. Design leads will be responsible for managing the drafting teams to achieve the required deliverables and assume responsibility for all mistakes and issues that arise from these deliverables.

Architect Coordination
  • Point of contact for all Architectural questions, issues, and resolutions for a project
  • Manage the consultants through the SD, DD, and CD design phases in preparation
  • for state submittal
  • Redline architectural plans and details during design phase Building code analysis and coordination
  • Determine scope of work and specifications
  • Organize and participate in pre-construction and OAC meetings as needed
Architectural Design Process
  • Manager of the architectural drafting team
  • Expert in Construction Plans analysis and translation
  • Coordinate and set deadlines for architectural design deliverables
  • Organize and participate in architectural design meetings
  • Mange, develop, and review of modular architectural plans
  • RFI generation and resolution as needed throughout the process to resolve issues

  • Limited REVIT modeling support as needed
Shop Drawing Process
  • Manager of architectural shop drawing drafting team
  • Coordinate and set deadlines for architectural shop drawing deliverables
  • Organize and participate in architectural shop drawing meetings
  • Organize and coordinate critical project procurement drawings and take offs
  • Review and approval of architectural shop drawing sheets
  • Redline and review of architectural shop drawing team’s work
Manufacturing Process
  • Deviation resolution with inspectors and jurisdictions
  • Manufacturing floor compliance walks
  • QA/QC support and issue resolution

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in architectural design, construction documentation, drafting, or design coordination within commercial, multifamily, hospitality, industrialized construction, or related industries.
  • 3+ years leading or mentoring architectural designers, BIM modelers, drafters, or design teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project deliverables through multiple design phases including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and shop drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction documents, architectural detailing, building assemblies, and coordination between architectural, structural, MEP, and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of commercial building codes, accessibility requirements, and life safety requirements.
  • Experience coordinating directly with Architects of Record (AOR), engineers, consultants, municipalities, and permitting agencies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and translate them into manufacturing-ready documentation.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting aggressive production schedules.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in modular, off-site, prefabricated, or industrialized construction.
  • Experience with multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, or student housing projects.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA).
  • Experience developing BIM standards, drafting standards, or design libraries.
  • Familiarity with Epicor ERP or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, or BIM 360.
  • LEED Accredited Professional or equivalent sustainability experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining company design standards.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $105,000 (Annually). Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Rise Modular's Total Rewards package for employees.
