Job summary

Safety Management Group is seeking a local Safety Advisor - Owner's Rep in Piketon, Ohio to lead contractor safety programs on a 5-year utility construction project. The role emphasizes safety leadership, observations, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced field environment.

You will collaborate with clients and field crews, drive safety improvements, prepare reports, and help embed a strong safety culture while meeting project goals and schedule demands.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of safety experience.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification.
• College degree in safety or BCSP certification.
• 5+ years safety management if no degree.
• Experience in power generation/electricity/construction preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the Contractor Safety Management Program across projects.
• Conduct safety observations and document findings with leading indicators.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to support safety initiatives.
• Provide safety leadership for grid enhancement projects.
• Ensure contractor compliance with safety policies and regulations.
• Communicate safety expectations to all contractors.
• Represent the client in project meetings and discussions.
• Prepare clear safety reports for stakeholders.
• Promote a strong safety culture among field crews.
• Support continuous improvement and adherence to internal standards.

SMG seeks a local Safety Advisor - Owner's Rep in the Piketon, Ohio area- Utility Construction.

The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change. Anticipated schedule is 50 hours/week. Schedule is subject to change.

Additional Information

• SMG full-time, benefitted Associates are eligible for Premium Pay after working 40 billable hours for the week. Premium pay is at a 1.35 multiplier.
• Per diem available for non-local candidates only. Per diem amount is $175/day
• Annual pay/merit review/increase.
• 5 year project duration

Overview of Job Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the Contractor Safety Management Program across assigned projects.

• Represent the utility client in project-related meetings and discussions.
• Prepare clear, concise safety reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture among field crews.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures while supporting continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 2+ years in safety.
• OSHA 30-Hour.
• College degree in a safety related field OR BCSP Certification.
• 5+ years in safety management in lieu of degree/certification.
• Prior experience in Power Generation/electricity/construction environments preferred.
• Proficient in professional email communication, electronic document creation, and developing safety-related materials such as bulletins and alerts.
• Skilled in navigating new software platforms and applications.
• Strong ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to contribute in a dynamic work environment.
• Capable of leading meetings and initiatives to drive safety and operational results.
