Job Description Summary

The Safe Office After-Hours On-Call Responder provides immediate after-hours response to Wake Forest University, Reynolda campus students who have been subjected to sexual harassment, assault, domestic/relationship violence or stalking. The On-Call Responder coordinates long-term and follow-up responses with the Associate Director of the Safe Office. This position requires on-call response 24 hours a day on weekends and 5:00 p.m. EST through 8:30 a.m. EST weekdays. Shifts are scheduled on weekends and weekdays during the fall and spring semesters. This is a part-time position.

Job Description

This position is not eligible for sponsorship of non-immigrant or immigrant visa status through Wake Forest University. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions
  • Remain accessible by cell phone at all times during scheduled on-call shifts to respond to incidents of sexual assault, domestic/relationship violence or stalking.
  • Respond promptly to all calls for assistance or questions about resources regarding sexual and domestic/relationship violence and stalking.
  • Provide immediate response to survivors in the event of a reported incident, following applicable University policies, guidelines, and protocols established by the Associate Director of the Safe Office.
  • Response may include, but is not limited to, providing confidential consultation to the individual, accompanying the individual to the hospital or to meet with legal/police authorities and connecting the individual to appropriate campus and community resources.
  • Provide follow-up assistance and response as directed by the Associate Director of the Safe Office.
  • Consult with the Associate Director of the Safe Office as appropriate during and after responses.
  • Ability to practice confidentiality in accordance with the state laws and the ethical standards under which the licensed clinical staff work.
  • Keeps timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with University Counseling Center/Safe Office policy and relevant professional code(s) of ethics immediately after a response.
  • Completes initial and ongoing training as necessary on applicable Wake Forest University protocols and procedures.
  • Attendance at monthly meetings with the Safe Office team, or more frequently if circumstances warrant.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of applicable privilege communication laws and the ability to manage confidential information and use sound judgment in responding to crises.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and external agencies.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • One to two years of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to crisis response for sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and relationship/ interpersonal violence
  • Established independent licensure as a mental health professional
