Job summary

WINGS Program in Chicago is seeking an Assistant Safe House Manager to streamline the operation of our Safe House and help create a safe environment for clients. This full-time, salary-exempt role supports daily operations, crisis line coverage, and staff coordination under the Safe House Manager.

You will lead and train staff and volunteers, maintain records, and participate in trainings to ensure services are delivered compassionately to families and individuals fleeing domestic violence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social service or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience with clients facing domestic violence, homelessness, mental health, or substance abuse.
• 40-hour domestic violence training preferred.
• CPR & First Aid certification preferred.
• ICDVP credential preferred.
• Food Safety and Sanitation certification preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Safehouse, including supervision, training, and scheduling of House Advocates, volunteers, and interns; assist in processing and storing donations; conduct intake and eligibility evaluations; ensure the building is safe, secure, and sanitary; coordinate policies and procedures.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Crisis Line; participate in providing intervention, counseling, education, safety planning and referrals.
• Support Safehouse guests by providing emotional support, modeling daily living skills, assisting with case management, conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed, and supporting groups.
• Work with the Safehouse Team to provide a continuum of services; ensure guest needs are met.
• Maintain timely, accurate records including client files, statistics, and census.
• Teach or assist in supervising the WINGS 40-hour domestic violence training and CEUs.
• In the absence of the Safehouse Manager, support staff and ensure resources are available.
• Attend required meetings and trainings; on-call for Safe House emergencies.
• Uphold standards for proper food safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
