Job summary

WINGS Program in Chicago seeks an Assistant Safe House Manager to streamline daily Safe House operations and create a safe, comfortable environment for clients fleeing domestic violence. You will supervise House Advocates, volunteers, and interns, manage intake, and ensure safety and sanitation across the facility.

You will support crisis line interventions, provide emotional support, and coordinate with the team to deliver continuous services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social service, closely related field, or equivalent work experience required.
• 2 years of supervisory experience and experience working with clients with domestic violence, homelessness, mental health issues and/or substance abuse required.
• 40-hour domestic violence training preferred
• CPR & First Aid Certification preferred
• ICDVP credential preferred
• Food Safety and Sanitation Certification preferred
• Bilingual Spanish preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and cultural sensitivity; ability to interface with varied personalities and backgrounds

• Ability to work efficiently and independently with strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Safehouse including supervision, training and scheduling of House Advocates, volunteers and interns; manage donations; conduct intake and eligibility evaluations; ensure building is safe, sanitary, and compliant with policies.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Crisis Line and participate in providing intervention, counseling, education, safety planning and referrals.
• Support Safehouse guests with emotional support, case management, crisis intervention, and support groups.
• Collaborate with Safehouse Team to provide continuum of services and meet guest needs.
• Maintain timely records including client files, statistics reports, and census.
• Teach or assist in supervising the 40-hour domestic violence training and CEU-bearing classes.
• Assist in covering Safehouse Manager duties in their absence and ensure staff resources are available.
• Uphold food safety standards and participate in required meetings and trainings.
• Report child abuse to Department of Children and Family Services as mandated by law.
• Participate in staffing the 24-hour facility, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays.
• On-call for emergencies and staff inquiries.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
