Job summary

Clearwater Analytics in Chicago is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to own ASC 606 revenue recognition for a growing SaaS business. You will lead a team of revenue accountants, work with Sales Operations, Legal, Billing and FP&A, and drive the close calendar and control environment.

This hands-on leadership role requires CPA or advanced degree, 7+ years of accounting with 2+ years in people leadership, and deep ASC 606 experience.

Qualifications

• CPA or post graduate degree in Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years managing people
• Deep, hands-on experience with ASC 606 in a software or subscription business
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and month-end close processes
• Experience supporting external audits and SOX-compliant controls
• Proficiency with an ERP and revenue/billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce) and advanced Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical accounting to non-accountants

Responsibilities

• Lead the revenue accounting function, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to revenue and related items
• Apply ASC 606 to complex customer contracts and renewals
• Review and approve revenue recognition memos and technical accounting positions
• Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk to review contract terms and advise on accounting impact
• Reconcile revenue, billing, and cash activity; report in GL
• Prepare and review revenue-related schedules and disclosures
• Support external audit and SOX controls
• Partner with FP&A on forecasting and key SaaS metrics
• Drive process improvement and automation across order-to-cash and revenue lifecycle
• Set team priorities and align revenue operations with accounting requirements
• Hire, develop, and mentor team members
