Job summary

Middlebury College's Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian seeks a temporary Bilingual Assistant in Russian for the summer 2019 session on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont. The role includes academic and residential support, coordination with staff, and collaboration with faculty to support student language acquisition.

Responsibilities span tutoring, IT and communications support, and event coordination. Lodging and a full meal plan are provided in addition to salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English, oral and written.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels; team-oriented.
• Willingness to take initiative and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary in-language point of contact for students and faculty.
• Provide linguistic practice, encouragement, and support outside class and in dorms.
• Design and implement team-building exercises for classes or program.
• Support students' commitment to the Language Pledge and rigorous learning.
• Represent the School and Middlebury community in official capacities.
