Job summary

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) seeks motivated college students or recent graduates to join our internship team in Washington, DC. Interns work with analysts across portfolios including Russia, China, and Iran, plus Geospatial Intelligence and National Security Technologies, gaining hands-on training and exposure to leading-edge technologies used in the intelligence community.

Qualifications

• Must be motivated and organized college students or recent graduates with demonstrated expertise in a related field.
• Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
• Strong critical language capabilities in Russian; Ukrainian a plus.
• Ability to conduct complex tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Self-motivated, independent, creative, and capable of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to—and interest in—the core mission and values of ISW.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily collection and analysis of open-source information in native language sources.
• Contribute to long-term research projects under ISW researchers for the Russia & Ukraine portfolio.
• Assist with editing, documenting, and compiling materials for publications.
• Support planning, preparation, and execution of public events and private briefings.
• Full-time internship (five days per week); part-time work considered on a case-by-case basis.
