Job summary

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) invites motivated college students or recent graduates to join our intern team across diverse portfolios, including Russia, China, and Iran's proxy networks. Interns work with analysts and gain hands-on experience in GIS, open-source intelligence, and national security research.

ISW offers a structured internship with classroom education, leadership engagement, and potential academic credit.

Qualifications

• Motivated college students or recent graduates with demonstrated expertise in a related field.
• Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
• Strong GIS skills: ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online; SQL or ArcGIS Python (Arcpy) a plus.
• Able to perform complex tasks quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Interest in national security issues relevant to Russia, Ukraine, China, or the Middle East.

Responsibilities

• Support open-source intelligence analysis to inform policymakers.
• Collaborate with analysts across portfolios (Russia, China, Iran) on research.
